Huron access for grants workWhen Huron Grants replaces Coeus in December, you do not need to submit an access ticket if you already had access to Coeus; you will retain that level of access for Huron Grants. Details announced on Nov. 6. RESEARCH STRATEGY AND DEVELOPMENTIncreased support for humanities researchOn Nov. 7, Brown Provost Francis J. Doyle III announced increased support for humanities research at Brown. Updated deadlines, guidelines, and award amounts are now available for both the Salomon Research Awards and Humanities Research Fund. Important Salomon Research Awards updateAdditional support for larger grants (up to $30,000) will be made available exclusively for faculty in the arts, humanities, and humanistic social sciences; In addition, there is no longer a preference for junior faculty. The new deadline is Monday, Dec. 2, 2024 (noon). Brown joins MIT-led I-CorpsBrown has joined seven other regional university partners in an MIT-led NSF-funded Innovation Corps (I-Corps) Hub to accelerate innovation and translation of research to the marketplace. The I-Corps Hub, which launches Jan. 1, 2025, extends from Rhode Island to Maine. Outgoing Subaward requests may resume on Dec. 9 in the Huron Research Suite. Updated FAQ on travel lodging itemized receiptsThe Sponsored Travel Policy FAQ has been updated to include additional guidance on providing proof of stay to support lodging booked through third-party agencies (i.e., Expedia, etc.) and requirements for itemized receipts. Childcare reimbursement requestsMust be processed via miscellaneous payment using spend category ‘NIH or other grant funded childcare allowance (9240)’. This is a taxable benefit reported on Form 1099-NEC. Check additional guidance for funding from NIH on NRSA fellowships and institutional training grants. Critical deadlines for financial reports to sponsorsHoliday breaks are approaching. Be mindful of Post Award Services due dates. Reports not received by the due dates will be submitted as-is for OSP to maintain compliance with sponsors, and adjustments will not be possible. Assistance from the Brown Internal Consulting GroupConsultants will assist with Pre- and Post-Award Service functions as we ramp up activities related to the transition to the Huron Research Suite.
