What's On in the Arts in Central Otago - September

BANNOCKBURN ARTS FESTIVAL - ARTS SCHOOL PROGRAMME 3-7 October 2022
Organisers are excited to offer their first five-day school, with an exciting programme, as well as a chance for visitors to enjoy our wonderful Central Otago Spring, and to enjoy the company and inspiration of like-minded artists. Based in Bannockburn, you will get to engage in artistic endeavour and at the same time experience what is on offer in our special place. Bannockburn Arts have managed to attract talented New Zealand tutors, highly respected in their field, to teach their small classes, details of which are: Creative writing with Laura Williamson Write your family history with Susan Curran Writing poetry with Sam Duckor-Jones Watercolour and mixed media with Susie Ruddenklau Painting with Gail de Jong Lfe drawing and the creative process with Alan Coull and Chris O’Donnell Sculptural pottery with Kathi McLean Creative photography with Celia Walmsley Travels in my kitchen with Judith Cullen Wine masterclass with local wineries and winemakers They have a fun and varied programme of activities for your after-school entertainment, too. On the last day of the arts school, 7 October, 7-9 pm, they open their annual exhibition, Artists of Bannockburn in the Cairnmuir Woolshed .All welcome. The exhibition will run till 9 October. COVER to COVER, AUTHORS TALK 2 December 2022 An advance notice of our long-awaited Cover to Cover author’s talk event with Fiona Sussman. Fiona’s third novel, Addressed to Greta, was awarded the NZ Booklovers Award for Best Adult Fiction in 2021. We are thrilled to announce that her new book, The Doctors Wife, described as an “enthralling page-turner”, will
be published in early October. Join us at Olivers café and bar on Friday 2nd December as we talk with Fiona about her work and much more besides - 5.30 for a 6.00 start. Limited tickets ($35) will be available from mid-October – more details next month. Ticket price includes canapes and a glass of bubbles on arrival. This is an event not to be missed and a
perfect way to kick off your Christmas celebrations. After a long period of cautious event planning and many cancellations it is so good to see the multitude of events coming up so do make sure you get along and support these shows, exhibitions, classes and events!
