New Faces

The Graduate School is pleased to welcome new staff members and partners who have recently joined our team.

Sarah Delaney, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

Sarah Delaney, Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs

Sarah Delaney is a Professor of Chemistry at Brown and began serving as a core member of the Graduate School leadership team in July. She provides skilled guidance and coordination of the academic affairs of the Graduate School. Read more.

Maria Glanvill, Executive Assistant to the Dean and Graduate School Office Manager

Maria Glanvill transitioned to a full-time role last May. She comes to the Graduate School with substantial experience providing high-level administrative support, including at research and academic institutions.

Byrd McDaniel, Assistant Director of Student Development

Byrd McDaniel is part of the student development team, with responsibility for the management of the Graduate School’s distinctive opportunity programs, including Open Graduate Education and Community Fellows programs. He works with graduate students and programs to support student success and collaborates with a number of partner offices and centers across campus.

Steven Radilla, Diversity Initiatives Program Coordinator

Steven Radilla focuses on programming to support the retention and recruitment of graduate students of color. Since starting in August, he has helped organize the Graduate Student of Color Orientation and Diversity Preview Day, as well as assists PREP students.

Wendy Zhu, Labor Relations Data Specialist

Wendy Zhu joined the Employee and Labor Relations team in HR as the new Labor Relations Data Specialist this summer. In her new role, she serves as the first point of contact for University offices on graduate student union-related membership policies and processes.

Other News

Child Care Subsidy Applications Open for 2023

The subsidy helps graduate student parents with child care for children 0-6. Eligible graduate students can apply for up to $5,000/year, per child (up to 3 children), per household. Deadline: October 21, 2022. Learn more.

Bunmi Osias, Public Health

Bunmi is a second-year student in the master’s of Public Health program. She recently worked as a graduate assistant planning All Student Orientation.

“I chose Brown because I knew my program would be academically rigorous while allowing me to learn both inside and outside of the classroom. As an undergraduate, I majored in Global and Public Health Sciences, which taught me the importance of public health and community engagement." Read more.

This distinctive program appoints doctoral graduates as Visiting Assistant Professors for the academic year following the completion of their degree. This year’s cohort met in early September with Graduate School staff and leadership to ask questions about navigating their new professorial roles - and enjoy donuts!

  • Thursdays, 5:30 - 6:30 pm (virtual)

Open Hours are for quick questions, utilizing CareerLAB resources, and editing/drafting resumes and cover letters.
