Many of us may have different faiths and philosophical traditions, but we all work to embrace and promote joy, hope, and love for one another especially during these uncertain and often challenging times. As another demanding yet successful semester is coming to a close in the next few weeks, let’s take a moment to reflect on all we achieved together in 2020. Despite the many trials we have faced this year, I've been so impressed with the resilience of our students, faculty, and staff. Thank you for all that you are doing this semester and for finding those hidden opportunities to grow. We know that this continues to be a challenging semester and we appreciate you and all that you are doing. This year, we made a difference in countless students’ lives, breakthroughs in research and connections in our communities. We have made significant strides in creative approaches to the way we interact in our virtual classrooms. Thank you for your commitment, flexibility, and adjustments as we all have adapted to our current way of academic life. Thank you to everyone for the individual and collective contributions you are making to raise our university to new heights every day. Each and every one of you should be proud of these accomplishments and more. I know that I am proud to work alongside you whether virtual or in-person every day. We couldn't do what we do without the support of our community partners who continue to provide engaging, meaningful learning opportunities for our students, and our donors who support our student scholarships and faculty-led, student-involved research initiatives. Thank you! Wishing you a wonderful Thanksgiving week! Jessica Journeay, Ph.D. Student and Graduate Teaching Associate I am honored to pursue my Ph.D. at Chapman University in the School of Communication. This has been a long-held dream of mine and I am immensely grateful for this opportunity. My passion for the field was sparked as I pursued my M.A. at CSUF. Then I taught as part-time faculty for a few years at different colleges and fell in love with seeing my students grow and implement the theory they were learning into their personal lives. Ultimately, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career as a professor. When Chapman announced a rigorous three-year Ph.D. program that cultivates both research and teaching, I knew it was the perfect fit. I am delighted to interact with Chapman students while learning and growing alongside them as both teacher and student. In terms of research, my interests involve evaluating romantic relationships and the various components that can impact them. I am ready to dive into this program and all it has to offer!
