About the Working Session...

To assist communities in meeting the May 31, 2023 deadline for RPRA registration and reporting of 2022 supply data, CIF is offering a 60-minute working session to walk participants through using the CIF Blue Box Producer Calculator.

CIF developed the Blue Box Producer Calculator to help communities determine their producer status and whether they have reporting and management obligations.

The Calculator will help groups to quickly determine if they:

  • exceed small producer exemptions for revenue and paper material supply;
  • must register as a producer, track and report their material supply, and pay fees to RPRA; and
  • must satisfy producer management responsibilities.

NOTE: If your community is an upper tier (county, region) or local services board, we encourage you to forward this to local municipalities as each entity is responsible for determining their status/ responsibility as a producer.

Each working session is 60 minutes. Participants only need to attend a single session. Register today!

Background

RPRA approved this calculator for use by communities, for the 2021, 2022 and 2023 reporting years. RPRA also provisionally agreed that a similar calculator will be provided for reporting in 2024, however, the per household supply rate for paper may be updated to reflect further data being collected by CIF.

The Calculator is supported by a guidance document that describes how to use it as well as potential registration and reporting obligations. The guidance document can be found on the CIF Transition Portal.

CIF Transition Portal

Access to the portal is limited to municipalities, service boards, and First Nations communities.
