RESEARCH INTEGRITY

Department of Energy - Research Security Training requirement

Researchers submitting proposals to the Department of Energy must complete Research Security Training BEFORE the proposal submission deadline beginning May 1, 2025. Get ahead of this NEW requirement by completing Research Security Matters in Workday Learning. Email ResearchSecurity@Brown.edu with questions.

Department of Energy - NEW research risk framework

The DOE has outlined its approach to Research, Technology, and Economic Security (RTES) risk in financial assistance and loan activities. Proposals will undergo research security risk assessment. Read DOE's 11/26/24 memo for information on risk factors. Email questions to ResearchSecurity@Brown.edu. 

Coming February: COI Cycle

The next annual COI cycle for faculty and researchers starts Feb. 12, 2025. Faculty/researchers submit in Infoed; those required to submit a COI form will receive an email from the VPR on Feb. 12. HR starts the staff COI cycle in Feb/March; staff submit in Workday. Email COI@brown.edu with questions.

NIH’s adoption of Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support

NIH requires applicants to use Common Forms for Biographical Sketch and Current and Pending (Other) Support and the NIH Biographical Sketch Supplement for application due dates and report submission dates on or after May 25, 2025. Review the NIH’s FAQ page.

Grants & Agreements: Ensure proper title formatting in Huron proposal submissions

Please note that inclusion of the “pipe” symbol will cause issues with WorkDay integration of new awards. Avoid using the bar/pipe symbol in your proposal titles. As an example, the bar/pipe symbol looks like this:  |

Grants & Agreements: Selecting the correct sponsor for National Science Foundation proposals in Huron

When preparing a proposal for the National Science Foundation (NSF), be sure to select the option labeled “National Science Foundation (000480).” Choosing one of the other listed NSF options may cause submission errors.

RESEARCH AGREEMENTS AND CONTRACTING

Submit agreement review requests in Huron

Research Agreements and Contracting (RAC) now accepts new agreement review requests via Huron Research Suite. All agreement requests must be submitted via Huron, as RAC no longer takes review requests by email. Follow three quick steps for submitting a RAC review request in Huron.

The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) recognized IMPACT 2023 in the category of alumni/general interest magazine printed once a year. This was IMPACT magazine's sixth and final issue since OVPR launched the magazine in 2018. Read the story.
