Jells Park

Community Update

April 2025

Image shows pile of dirt next to excavation works where the track is being dug. The new track is surrounded by green grass and large gum trees.

Shared-Use Trail project paving forward

Construction continues smoothly, with the new section of trail through the central area of Jells Park completed. Lighting installation is still to come on the Lake Trail, in time to light the way during the darker months of the year.

Temporary closure: Conservation Area

The conservation area is closed from 24 March until late May 2025, while we undertake construction of new trails through this area. The new trail will be a like for like replacement of stabilised crushed gravel, so visitors can continue to enjoy the bushland environment. A new seat and bike rack will be installed, allowing visitors a chance to rest and enjoy the lake.

If you are wanting to spend time in nature during the closure, we recommend you take a journey to the nearby Nortons Park, or become more familiar with other areas at Jells Park, such as the smaller conservation area below the playscape.

Temporary closure: Northern entrance from Dandenong Creek Trail

From 22 May a section of path connecting to the northern entrance via the Dandenong Creek Trail will be temporarily closed for approximately 5 weeks while a new path is constructed. Further information and detours will be displayed in the park closer to this date.

Stay up-to-date on the project and access changes during construction by visiting the project page.

New jetties

New jetties will be installed thanks to the Victorian Governments Asset Regeneration Program. Demolition of the old jetties began in late March in preparation for the installation of the new jetties.

Thank you for your support

Parks Victoria has been working with community groups to minimise disruptions. However, construction work does impact the way people move around the Park and some community groups have needed to adjust their activities. We appreciate the support and patience shown during this time. We are looking forward to sharing the completed works with community soon.
