Across three days and six ceremonies a total of 47 PhD graduands crossed the stage with their parchments and had their photos taken with our Chancellor, John Hood. Below are some upcoming sessions: U P C O M I N G D E V E L O P M E N T W O R K S H O P SFlinders 3MT Competition - Information Session 20 May, 1:30-3:30pmFlinders University PhD students are invited to compete to promote their research, develop their communication skills, boost their career and be in the running to win the Asia-Pacific 3MT prize of a $5,000 research travel grant. Presenting in a 3MT competition increases students’ capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Competitors are allowed one PowerPoint slide, but no other resources or props. If you are interested in the 3MT competition and would like to find out more, take a look at past presentations on the 3MT website, and come along to the 3MT Information Session on Mon 20 May. Seven Steps to Academic Writing Success - 3 & 17 June, 11am-1pmThis is a two-part workshop delivered by Malini Devadas from MD Writing and Editing. This seven-step academic writing framework helps writers break down the writing process into manageable chunks. By applying this framework, you can get started on your document with confidence much earlier and produce a high-quality product with much less stress. By the end of this workshop, you will be able to; create a realistic timeframe for writing; make a detailed document plan, making the writing process much faster; and edit your own work efficiently and objectively.
