Wheatbelt health news

Wheatbelt Health Professionals Network (WBHPN) Program Officer Sally Beer road-tripped through the region last month, visiting practices and health professionals in Bindoon, Wongan Hills and Wyalkatchem, as well as hosting WBHPN events in Moora and Merredin. Thank you to those who attended the events and to Jo Drayton from Holyoake for her presentation on self-care for health professionals. It was fantastic to see some familiar faces and make new connections and we look forward to returning to this corner of the Wheatbelt for Dowerin Field Days in August.

LiveUp is a free healthy ageing website funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care. Powered by not-for-profit organisation iLA, LiveUp has been designed to provide impartial information and advice to older people in Australia on staying active, independent, and connected to their communities.

By completing a quick quiz about how they are functioning day-to-day, users will be given instant results with personalised information on exercises, local community groups and activities, and assistive products.

Health professionals can also informally refer or encourage older people to call LiveUp’s Navigation service (freecall 1800 951 971) for assistance with finding relevant information and resources, and even developing a Healthy Ageing Map. Information can be mailed or emailed.

If you’d like more information, or a presentation on LiveUp, please contact LiveUp’s WA-based Community Engagement Professional, Sally Gilchrist on communities@liveup.org.au or (08) 6202 4705.
