These poles are bred in our nurseries specifically for planting on farm and provide a number of benefits:
Currently all willow poles have been allocated but a number of our poplar varieties remain. These are Kawa, Veronese, and Shinsei. These varieties are available as A-grade 3 metre poles. Kawa is an excellent soil conservation tree in moist areas that are sheltered from excessive wind. It has a moderate crown and is Possum resistant. Kawa is the densest poplar making it good for timber and fire wood. Veronese is a straight stemmed, narrow crowned tree. It is suitable for a range of sites and has some tolerance to drought. Veronese can withstand more exposed, windy sites unlike Kawa. This tree has Lombardy genetics. Shinsei is a tree recommended for general soil conservation purposes and is suited to moist inland sites. It is reasonably wind tolerant and also has good possum resistance. It grows branches at a steep angle resulting in a narrow crown with no heavy limbs.
