Through travel, we are never the same. Change is inherent – within us and around us, shaped by the choices we make as we move through the world. These annual gatherings, held in collaboration with our NGO partners, weave purpose with adventure, deepening our connection to people and place while expanding our positive impact on the ecosystems and communities around us.
Please note that these are non-commissionable events, but their impact ripples far and wide across Africa.

INTRODUCING THE UBUMWE WOMEN'S TRAIL
In February 2027, Singita, in partnership with the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, will host the first-ever Ubumwe Women’s Trail in Rwanda. This multi-day, all-women event involves a 15–18-kilometre trail run, a gorilla trek, and a guided
hike to the original site of the Karisoke Research Center. Participants will also enjoy an insightful behind-the-scenes visit to the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, where they will meet front-line conservationists and see first-hand how science, protection, and community engagement work together to save gorillas.
In Kinyarwanda, Ubumwe means “togetherness”. In this spirit, the event aims to support local women to become powerful leaders for transformative, community-driven conservation and climate resilience efforts that benefit their entire ecosystem.

SERENGETI GIRLS RUN
Later this year, in partnership with the Grumeti Fund, we’ll host the ninth Serengeti Girls Run. This multi-stage, all-female endurance run across the teeming Serengeti plains
helps to
raise funds for empowerment programmes for girls in rural Tanzania. Covering roughly 21 kilometres of wilderness every day, participants also have the chance to spend time with local girls, to learn about their lives and the impact of the Fund’s regional conservation work first-hand.

WAGORA BIKE RIDE
This year, the second Wagora Bike Ride will take place in the Serengeti. Held in partnership with the Grumeti Fund, this five-day event traverses 150 kilometres of the Grumeti Reserve over three days, in solidarity and support for the region’s anti-poaching scouts. The event honours Kitaboka
Wagora, a ranger who was tragically killed by a poacher in 2008. Participants will engage with the Fund’s conservationists and scouts to learn more about the vital work they’re carrying out on the ground.

December was a remarkable month for leopard sightings in the Grumeti Reserve. 11 individuals were spotted along drainage lines and around dams, resting near the last water reserves in anticipation of the rains to come. This marks the highest number of these elusive cats seen in 2025. Their rarity is a reminder of the preciousness of the natural world we, alongside our partners, work so hard to preserve.
Enjoy the sounds of the Serengeti while catching up on the latest regional wildlife report.
