Welcome

Welcome to December's edition of the ezine.  As we hopefully emerge out of lockdown two into the tier system, this month's ezine features include information to help keep our membership up to date with what's going on in our sport.

Contained is information regarding Covid Officer refresher training to help keep these dedicated volunteers up to date.  There's also details of some potential funds to help support clubs as they make efforts to maintain and develop safe activity going forwards.  Please keep an eye on the regional website for Covid related updates to support our members being able to access a safe water training environment.  Workforce development training continues to be available including Time to Listen training and Team Manager workshops.  Please contact the regional office for more details.  Details can also be found regarding UK Coaching who are making available mental health training to help support the coaching workforce.

While we have been out of the water, a virtual Swimming Camp has taken place for 36 selected North East Region swimmers and some additional swimmers have also been selected to be part of the national programme moving into 2021.  Well done to all those involved.  It was also sad to hear of the passing of a dedicated Water Polo volunteer just a few weeks ago.  Our condolences go to Jack Martin's family and friends.

We hope that members are back in the water soon and are able to have a safe, restful and enjoyable Christmas and that 2021 sees our sport recover from the challenges of 2020.  Stay safe and well.  Please keep an eye on the website and social media platforms to ensure that you keep up-to-date with the latest information.  Please note that the regional office will be closed from 2 pm on Wednesday 23rd December 2020 until 9 am on Monday 4th January 2021.

Swim England has introduced a Stronger Affiliation process so its 411 affiliated clubs which are not currently SwimMark accredited can prove they are well run and their personnel have the necessary safeguarding checks in place to ensure members' safety - click here.
