October 2023 NewsSO Few Consider AdoptionToday, only 1% - 2% of women facing unplanned pregnancy choose adoption. The other 98%+ choose between abortion and (single) parenting. They may not realize -- they can choose life, even if they are not ready to parent. We ALL have a role in encouraging women to choose adoption. Remember, any young woman is more likely to consider it when an adult she admires suggests it. Visit to Hillsdale College in OctoberWhat a week I had at Hillsdale College! Timing worked out so that I could attend Hillsdale’s Center for Constructive Alternatives (CCA) lecture series on the history and role of intelligence in America. Fascinating info on the CIA, especially. But my main reasons for being in town were: Radio Free Hillsdale PodcastTuesday morning I met Mattingly Watson at the Hillsdale Free Radio station in town to record for her "Fact of Life" podcast. Mattie was one of the most prepared podcast hosts I've come across yet, as she had read my book, "ProChoice, ProAdoption: It's Time for a Loving Positive Response to Unplanned Pregnancy" and asked excellent questions! Here's a link to our discussion on her podcast. and a link to the book. Thank you, Mattie! Campus Life Group GuestWednesday evening I spoke on campus to the very active and impressive "Hillsdale College for Life" group. The event talk was called "The Great CoverUp: What They Don’t Tell You About Abortion and Adoption." Idaho Policy UpdateUnplanned Good Policy Work has gathered much support in the Idaho Capitol. Stay tuned for the Governor's Proclamation on Wednesday, November 8 from the Capitol Rotunda. We'll be introducing legislation in the 'trigger law' States during the next legislative session. The goal is to remove obstacles and make choosing adoption easier for the women who are considering placing their babies with adoptive parents. After all, why make it any harder than it is already?! Most adoption legislation focuses on the adoptive parents. We just might be the first in the country to focus on the birthmom! Read more about our POLICY WORK with the States here. We'll keep our web site updated with the latest. We are pretty excited about our work in this area. Did you know ... ?
