What's On in April 2016

Autumn is really kicking in now and the poplar trees are always first to turn. These giant yellow sentinels line our roads, glowing against
clear blue skies. Soon their leaves will be landing on the country lanes, then flying up from behind the cars - I love seeing that. The grape harvest has begun and the juicy bunches are being picked by an army of mostly overseas workers. We are grateful they have come to help the growers bring in the fruit and for making our region more multi-cultural and colourful.
Once again Central turned on a ‘burster’ of a day for a fantastic Clyde Wine and Foods Harvest Festival, so “hats off” to the organisers, Promote Dunstan, who are a remarkable bunch of volunteers. This month's header photo is of local band 'Sea Beast' playing at the festival with three spur-of-the-moment dancing girls joining them on stage.
April is jam-packed with entertainment to suit all tastes so peruse the listing below to see what takes your fancy. Clyde Theatre Group’s April production 'Noises Off' runs from the 9th until the 16th April and is sure to be great night out. Tickets are on sale now from the Central Otago i-SITEs. Comedian Michele A’Court is touring her show ' Stuff I Forgot To Tell My Daughter'. She will perform in Queenstown, Wanaka, Tarras, Roxburgh, Alexandra and Ranfurly, so if in need of a good laugh get your tickets early. Arts on the Rail Trail is still going strong and there is a photography exhibition in the Wedderburn Woolshed which you must check out if you are out in the Maniototo. See the listing for more details. Enjoy Autumn everyone!
