Celebrating Michigan’s 2027 Administrators of the Year Finalists!
Leaders Change Lives.
The Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP), in partnership with Michigan Student Leadership (MSL), proudly recognizes Michigan's 2027 Administrators of the Year finalists across four categories: High School Principal, Middle School Principal, High School Assistant Principal and Middle School Assistant Principal.
This year's finalists represent leaders who are making a meaningful difference in the lives of students, educators and their school communities. Through the people they develop, the relationships they strengthen and the opportunities they expand, these finalists demonstrate how leadership creates conditions for students and educators to learn, grow and thrive.

A Collaborative Selection Process
A distinctive feature of these awards is the opportunity to bring student and administrator perspectives together in recognizing exceptional school leadership.
Stage 1
Student Leadership Review
The MSL Board of Delegates Selection Committee meets to review and score nominations using established selection criteria and a scoring rubric. Through discussion, students collectively select three finalists in each award category.
Stage 2
Administrator Leadership Review
The MASSP Board of Directors Selection Committee reviews the finalists' nomination materials using the same criteria and rubric, then meets to discuss the finalists and determine the four award recipients.
Both committees evaluate demonstrated leadership and impact in instructional leadership, innovation, school culture and community engagement.

What Happens Next?
Oct – Nov 2026
Award Recipient Celebrations
Award recipients are celebrated at their schools, followed by recognition across MASSP's communication channels and social media.
Feb – June 2027
National & State Recognition
Recipients advance for national consideration, are invited to a national recognition event in February and are honored at MASSP's EdCon in June.
