Arts Newsletter May

Kia Ora,
My apologies for being a little late with this month’s newsletter but I have been as busy as a bee applying for funding and organising sponsorship towards our fantastic new event, the Central Otago Art awards. These are being held in Alexandra at Central Stories Museum over the Rugby World Cup period in September/October of this year. No doubt some of you already know a bit about what we are planning, but if not click here to view a recent press release about it.
It will be wonderful to have a national art event of this calibre in Central Otago and we’re all very excited about it. We have some enticing prize money up for grabs and within a week we will have our entry form finalised and ready to send out via email. There will also be a downloadable form on the art’s website.
We are also proud to announce our judges: Elizabeth Caldwell, director of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery and Jim Geddes, Head of Arts and Heritage at Gore District Council and director of the Eastern Southland Gallery, Gore. These highly regarded judges will bring something very special to the awards and it is it is our honour to have them. Clyde Theatre Group opened their production on Saturday, ‘A Taste for Murder’, a two-act murder mystery by Angela Lanyon, at the Clyde Memorial Hall. It will run until the 20 May.
Fine Thyme Theatre Group has their latest show coming up, ‘I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change’. This opens Friday, May 20 and is being held at the Cromwell College Auditorium. As well there are plenty of new exhibitions to go and see, just click through the events below to find out more!
Warm regards
