Text of the Proclamation:
WHEREAS, Idaho’s children are the future of the Gem State; and
WHEREAS, every Idaho child deserves a home, family and parents who are ready, willing and able to care for them as they grow up; and
WHEREAS, the health of Idaho women and mothers is of the highest priority; and
WHEREAS, each year approximately four percent of Idaho teens face an unplanned pregnancy while almost two million couples across this country are ready, willing, able and hoping to adopt a baby; and
WHEREAS, in the United States, the desire to adopt a child far outweighs the number of infants available for adoption. For every eligible baby, at least 36 couples await the chance to bring a child into their loving home; and
WHEREAS, National Adoption Month
in Idaho honors courageous birth parents who choose life for their babies, even when they are not ready to parent, and then choose adoptive parents, giving their child a better life than they can provide, thus creating new Idaho families; and
WHEREAS, it is important to support the adoption process and help facilitate a smooth journey for the birth mother on the path to placing her baby with an adoptive family;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, BRAD LITTLE, Governor of the State of Idaho, do hereby
proclaim November 2023, to be
NATIONAL ADOPTION MONTH
in Idaho, and I encourage Idaho citizens to recognize this special observance.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused to be affixed the Great Seal of the State of Idaho at the Capitol in Boise on this 1st day of November, in the year of our Lord two thousand and twenty-three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred forty-eighth, and of the Statehood of Idaho the one hundred thirty-fourth.
BRAD LITTLE, GOVERNOR
