Engagement starts on Coastal HazardsToday we've launched a coastal hazards interactive map portal, and we've started engagement on our Coastal Hazards Adaptation Planning Programme and the Coastal Hazards Plan Change. Kia ora, We recently got in touch with you to let you know about the release of our updated Coastal Hazards Assessment. As part of our city-wide conversation on coastal hazards, we’d now like to let you know about two engagement efforts that start today. We have two programmes of work at the Council that are looking at coastal hazards from slightly different angles – the Coastal Hazards Adaptation Planning Programme and the Coastal Hazards Plan Change. The Coastal Hazards Plan Change is about managing new development, changes of use and subdivision proposed in the future. Reducing risks to existing land use activities and development will be considered through the Coastal Hazards Adaptation Planning Programme Today, we’ve launched a coastal hazards interactive map portal that lets you adjust the timeframes and increments of sea level rise to see how areas might be impacted by coastal flooding, erosion and groundwater. We’ve also released two documents for feedback:
Feedback is open until Monday 15 November. We’re at the start of the process with both these programmes – no decisions have been made. Before we go any further, we want to hear what you think. We have a series of drop-ins planned around the city and Banks Peninsula where you can pop in any time to talk to the project team and ask any questions you might have. More information about the drop-ins can be found on the Have Your Say pages for each engagement. If you can't make a drop-in, or have a community group meeting you’d like us to attend, please get in touch. Please feel free to pass this information on to your networks.
