Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant update

Join us for a community meeting

With a busy summer of work about to get underway at the Christchurch Wastewater Treatment Plant we've organised a community meeting for locals to come along and hear directly from Council staff and contractors.

6.15pm—7.15pm, Thursday 11 December 
He Waka Tapu, 161 Pages Road

At the meeting we'll give updates on: 

• Activated Sludge Reactor construction – with construction scheduled to start in early 2026 we'll give you an overview of what the project will involve. The Council's project manager and HEB Construction staff will be available to talk about the project and answer your questions. 
• Clarifier repairs – repairs are scheduled for March next year and important preparation works are happening now. The clarifiers play a critical role in the wastewater treatment process, ensuring that solids are separated from the wastewater that enters our oxidation pond system. The Council's project manager will be on hand to talk about the project and answer any questions. 
• Ongoing operations – operating the damaged treatment plant is complex, and at this time of year we take actions to try and manage midge numbers and odour. The plant's operations manager will be at the meeting to give an update and answer questions. 

There is no need to RSVP – just show up on the day.
