Plant-based diets have grown in popularity in recent years, partly driven by the knowledge that meat production is exacerbating the climate crisis. An extreme form of this diet – once favoured by Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple – is fruitarianism. While there are no strict definitions of what a fruitarian diet is, one rule says that between 55% and 75% of food consumed should be raw fruit.
Fruit is undoubtedly good for you, but what happens when it comprises most of your calorie intake? And what about all that fructose?
