After high school, she was fortunate to be selected by Rotary International as an exchange student to Besançon, France. She then attended and graduated from Oregon State University. Her work background is varied, with a passion for the humanities and a proclivity for the nitty-gritty details. She began her journey with Chapman University at the Fowler School of Law in 2019, where she cut her teeth on complicated contracts. She is excited to apply this expertise to an expanded portfolio! ![]() 2025-2026 Faculty Grant for Research, Scholarship, & Creative Activity Now Open! Our office is now accepting proposals for the 2025-2026 Faculty Grant for Research, Scholarship, & Creative Activity (FGRSC). This internal grant provides competitive, merit-based support for research, scholarly, and creative activities in all disciplines and fields. The call for proposals, guidelines, and supporting documents can be found on our resource page. RSVP for our FGRSC workshop on Thursday January 16th from 10am-11:30am, which will cover an overview of the grant, application, and review process. Proposals are due Monday, February 17th, 2025 at 12pm (Noon). Spring 2025 Faculty Research Development Fellow – Deadline Extended! We are pleased to announce the leadership opportunity for a Faculty Fellow for Spring 2025 in the Office of Research and Graduate Education. This opportunity seeks tenure track and tenured faculty who seek to enhance their professional leadership through supporting each office’s strategic goals through a variety of activities. Appointments can start as early as Spring 2025. Faculty Fellows will receive a stipend for their work. New 2024 National Institute of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy The new policy requires that any manuscript accepted for publication in a journal on or after December 31, 2025 that is the result of funding by NIH (in whole or in part) must be submitted to PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication. Under the new Policy, there is no longer an allowable 12-month embargo period. New National Academies Report A free PDF of the National Academics Report Understanding and addressing misinformation about science is now available. Department of Homeland Security Generative AI Public Sector Playbook US. Department of Homeland Security unveils Playbook for the Development of Artificial Intelligence by the Public Sector, an innovative guide describing actions to be taken to advance the uses of GenAI. Upcoming National Science Foundation Funding Opportunity With this solicitation (NSF 24-529: Innovations in Graduate Education (IGE)). the IGE program will support proposals in two tracks: Track 1: Career Preparation and Student Success Pilots and Track 2: Systemic Interventions and Policies. Under Track 1, the IGE program will continue to invite proposals to pilot, test, and validate innovative approaches to graduate education with an emphasis on career preparation and student success. Track 2 is new with a primary goal to support research on how various systemic innovations in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) graduate education impact graduate student outcomes (such as graduation rates, retention, employment, etc.). Proposals are due March 25, 2025, 5 pm. ![]() Updates from the National Institutes of Health Below are some updates that have recently been released from the National Institute of Health (NIH). ![]() Chapman Alumni Awarded Western Association of Graduate Schools Thesis Award We are proud to announce Tlotlo Tsamaase, MFA ‘24, of Wilkinson College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences is the national winner of the 2024-25 WAGS/ProQuest Distinguished Master’s Thesis and/or Final Master’s Capstone Project Award in the Creative, Visual and Performing Arts category! The award is granted to the nominee who demonstrates peerless “originality, aesthetic merit, technical execution, and potential to reach beyond the original academic audience.” The WAGs review committee was particularly impressed with Tlotlo’s thesis, “Siren of Terror".
