Dear Stakeholder Every August, I feel a little extra proud when Women’s Month shines a light on a mission that is core to what we do at the ASISA Academy all year round: female empowerment. I am surrounded by strong, empowered women who spend a lot of their time passionately doing work that empowers others, notably many young women. I would like to give a Women’s Month shout-out to the ASISA Academy’s administration and marketing team who help keep our programmes running smoothly all year round.

One of the areas where young women's success is showcased is the Fezeka Graduate Programme, a structured development programme for high potential, black South African female graduates who want to build a career in investment management. Of the 12 graduates who took part in the 2024/2025 Fezeka Programme, 10 are now employed in asset management:

I would like to thank the sponsors and host employers for their partnership in developing talent in our industry. This month I would like to shine a light on Coronation Fund Managers, who have partnered with the ASISA Academy’s IMACS@TSIBA Internship for more than a decade.

Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) Internship We want to acknowledge the interns in the current cohort of the Independent Financial Advisor (IFA) Internship who have recently received RE5 certificates after passing the exams that test their knowledge of the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act and the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA). Achieving this while adapting to a new work environment is no small feat. The RE5, combined with the internship experience, gives interns a solid foundation should they wish to pursue the board exams to qualify as advisors.

During Money Smart Week (MSWSA) 2025, the ASISA Academy, in partnership with the ASISA Foundation, hosted an engaging webinar that focused on equipping university students and young professionals with practical financial literacy skills. The session attracted a diverse audience and featured insightful presentations from the ASISA Academy alumni committee members. Topics included budgeting, debt management, saving, investing, retirement planning, and risk management.
In addition, other alumni members participated in Money Smart Week by hosting face-to-face initiatives with specific audiences. The webinar and related activities successfully provided practical and relatable financial literacy insights, aligning with the objectives of Money Smart Week SA.
