How green is your breakfast (spinach smoothie aside)? Alice Garvey conducted some stomach-rumbling research into the carbon footprints of some of our favourite foods to find out. Although a traditional full English might be many readers’ morning feast of choice, it’s not so kind on the planet thanks to its heavy use of meat and dairy products. But luckily there are some simple ways to make it much more environmentally friendly.
When the Taliban announced its new government, it was predictably stacked with hardliners – with no posts for women. And while it has since emerged that women will be allowed to attend school and university, they will be segregated by gender, forced to adhere to strict dress codes and banned from taking part in sport. So it’s not surprising that women are at the forefront of protests against the new regime with its discriminatory measures.
Plus we hear why the rise of a linguistic trick known as a “snowclone” may be useful in helping people digest the huge changes to society we’ve seen over the last two years.
