![]() From the HeadmasterDear Scotch Community, Many of you will be aware that this week marks National Reconciliation Week. As a school, we are committed to the process of reconciliation through the enrolment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This week presents an opportunity to reflect, learn, and grow as a nation. At Scotch, it holds deep significance as we honour the histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and reaffirm our commitment to truth-telling, healing, and unity. Last Thursday, the College celebrated the formal launch of our strategic partnership with the Clontarf Academy. The College and the Clontarf Foundation are both excited by this new model—placing a Clontarf Academy in an independent boarding school—and CEO Gerard Neesham spoke passionately about the potential of the link with Scotch. Early feedback from families has also been glowing, praising the support and structure that having an academy at Scotch has brought. As Clontarf Academy Director and Old Scotch Collegian (2010) Nic Munro said:
As we mark Reconciliation Week at Scotch College, Perth, we do so with respect, reflection, and resolve. We honour the Elders past and present, and we look to the future—one shaped by knowledge, empathy, and shared responsibility. The most important aspect is the role played by our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in increasing the understanding of all members of our community about the process of reconciliation and the underpinning cultural imperatives.
