Sample Applications - NIH If you are new to writing grant applications, sometimes seeing how someone else has presented their idea can help as you are developing your own application. With the gracious permission of successful investigators, some institutes have provided samples of funded R01, R03, R15, R21, SBIR/STTR, K, and F applications, sharing plans, leadership plans, and more. They have even provided sample summary statements so you can know what to expect to receive as the outcome of the review of your application. When referencing these resources, it is important to remember: - Proceed with caution – These applications were developed using the forms and instructions that were in effect at the time of their submission and may not apply to the funding opportunity to which you are responding. Follow current application instructions and requirements included in the funding opportunity carefully.
- Different strokes – The best way to present your science may differ substantially from the approach taken by those who wrote the example applications. Seek feedback on your draft application from mentors and others.
- Don’t be afraid to reach out – Talk to an NIH program officer in your area of science for advice about the best type of grant program and the Institute or Center that might be interested in your idea.
- Get scrappy – Samples are not available
for all grant programs. Many programs have common elements and the available samples can still provide helpful information.

Clinical Research Tip of the Month
Your Trials are Now on the Froedtert Study Information Portal (SIP) The Froedtert Study Information Portal for non-cancer trials is now live. Clinical trial information from active trials in OnCore is pulled to the Froedtert website to provide a patient-facing portal of available clinical trial opportunities, organized by category. It is important to update the status of trials in OnCore so that the information on the Froedtert SIP remains current. More information can be found here.
Get Ready! The eBridge Agreements Module Goes Live This Month The eBridge Agreements module will go live on August 26, 2023. This new module in eBridge will serve as the enterprise system solution for the routing, negotiation, execution, and maintenance of incoming and outgoing Confidentiality Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), and Data Use Agreements (DUAs). The new module will leverage users’ existing knowledge of eBridge, streamline, automate, and centralize the review and execution process, and enhance transparency. To create a new CDA, MTA, DUA, or MDA in eBridge, follow the steps below: - Log into eBridge.
- From the left column, select New Agreement.
- In the Agreement SmartForm, respond to all questions.
- On the Agreement Upload page, carefully select the appropriate agreement type. This response determines the next set of pages and questions.
