Click here 5 October 2023 Introducing Resources VictoriaThe Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action introduced a new structure which features the formation of Resources Victoria. The new entity comprises Earth Resources Regulator, Earth Resources Policy and Programs, Geological Survey of Victoria, and the Resources Victoria Approvals Coordination. The Earth Resources Regulator will continue to ensure activities are conducted safely to protect people, property, infrastructure, and the environment. Read more about the change to Resources Victoria and our role as the regulator Code of Practice public consultation now openPublic consultation is now underway until 16 October 2023 on the draft Code of Practice for Common Risk Management Techniques for Quarries. Feedback gathered from the consultation will be vital to developing a code of practice guiding the assessment, management and mitigation of common low and medium risks at quarries. Annual reportingEarth Resources Regulator would like to thank all the authority holders and licensees who submitted their annual returns for the 2022/23 financial year. There has been a significant increase in returns being submitted on time. Ninety-three per cent of minerals returns and 89 per cent of extractives returns were received by the due dates, with follow up actions underway to obtain the outstanding returns. The information provided by industry will again be used to prepare ERR's annual statistical report. Assistance continues to be available to anyone with outstanding returns by contacting RRAM.support@ecodev.vic.gov.au Bendigo Gold mining sites under rehabilitationThe Earth Resources Regulator is progressing the rehabilitation of several former mining sites around Bendigo. A key milestone was the closure of the Swan Decline at Kangaroo Flat. Extensive work has also been undertaken to preserve historical documents, including transferring geological records to the Geological Survey of Victoria and gifting some materials with local community-based historical groups.
