What's On in the Arts in Central Otago - December

Cover to Cover, Authors Talk with Fiona Sussman. The Arts Trust have had a very busy month with the very successful opening of The Power that Flows Through Us and the inaugural Cover to Cover event. The Merchant of Clyde café was filled to capacity with a very appreciative audience, for the inaugural Cover to Cover Authors Talk event on Friday evening, 2nd December. Fiona Sussman is an award-winning novelist and short story writer whose work has been published internationally. Fiona read excerpts from her fourth, and latest novel, The Doctor’s Wife. Published in October this year, this latest novel has already been listed in The Listener Best Books for 2022, where they describe it as “a fine thriller that hooks readers in early and never lets up”. Fiona then chatted with local Clyde writer Annie Villiers about her previous life - growing
up in a book-loving, publishing family in Johannesburg, South Africa; emigrating to New Zealand 32 years ago; working as a GP in Auckland and subsequently following her passion and making the career change from medicine to writing full time. This was a hugely successful event in a delightfully intimate environment – eagerly awaited after two postponements – and planning will start soon for two more Cover to Cover events in 2023. We celebrated the opening of The Power that Flows Through Us on Friday the 25th of November at the Heritage Precinct in Cromwell. We would like to thank www.dicey.co.nz for sponsoring the wine for this event and we invite you to take a look at their fantastic new premium Pinot Bag-in-Box. The concept, design and taste of this Pinot is super, and we love to encourage our community to support the people who support the arts in Central Otago. I should add, that a number of other local vineyards and businesses do the same, and for this we are eternally grateful! The Power that Flows Through Us shows until the 8th of January so make sure take a look at the installations in The Clyde Museum and the Cromwell Heritage Precinct and pick up your copy of the free newspaper which features images, poetical works by Brian Turner and interviews around
the Clyde Dam and the Think Big initiative. Do get involved in more of the wonderful offerings in the arts in Central Otago over the summer months and keep an eye out on our What's On events calendar as we load more events happening in December and January in Central Otago.
