Hello my lovely friend, I’ve been getting a lot of responses from all of you, asking about our next Hidden Dinner. If you read this newsletter all the way to the end, not only will you get some amazing value but you’ll find out about our next HD Event! How do you experience Food in your life? Food is such a significant part of our lives but because it’s included in our daily routine, we sometimes take it for granted. I want to encourage you to take a moment and recognize the brilliance of our creative God who has blessed us abundantly with every type of fare imaginable. Allow me to share some of the ways food enhances the human experience. Food fuels your life You and I rely on food and water to stay alive! The very act of eating and drinking is a primal necessity to our continued existence. Our bodies are designed to experience hunger and thirst as a way to give us the desire to fuel up. Food nourishes your body and feeds your soul While eating keeps you alive, a well balanced diet gives you a vibrant lifestyle. God has given us a variety of plants and animals to feast on. Eating nutrient rich foods can extend your lifespan and improve overall health. Your Physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are greatly impacted by what you eat. Food gives you pleasure Food impacts your brain and sensory systems. Eating literally releases dopamine (AKA the happy hormone) into the body, giving you a boost of pleasure. This chemical reaction plays a role in your mood, motivation and concentration. Because of how your brain is wired, an innovative dining experience can fully engage your 5 senses and entice immense pleasure. Imagine sitting at the Chef’s Table watching your culinary adventure come to life. Listening to the sizzle of seared steak and smelling the garlic rosemary marinade can be pretty satisfying. The anticipation comes to a halt when you finally get to taste the flavors and feel the textures in every bite. Food is an expression of love Do you remember a specific time you experienced love through food ? I was about 6 years old and for some reason I was crying. I remember the neighbor bringing me a plate of fruit from her house. I sat down on the bed of my dad’s green Nissan truck to eat. While I was eating the pear, pomegranates, grapes and Persian cucumber, I could taste the saltiness of my tears slowly fade away in a deep sense of comfort. I will never forget that moment, not because it was the best meal of my life, but because I truly felt loved. Food is an act of worship “So whether you eat or drink … do it all for the glory of God.” I’ve been meditating on these words all week and asking myself how do we honor God through food. We can praise God by simply giving thanks every time we feast. We also express our reverence by eating well and taking care of our earthly bodies. Another way to worship and honor God is to follow in His footsteps by feeding those who are hungry. God has given us all these blessings for our enjoyment and His Glory. Food is the ultimate connector There is something so intimate that takes place when we share a meal together at The Table. Food is a global connector and a great conversation starter. There is an unspoken language in breaking bread and sharing wine that unites our hearts. I’ve had the great pleasure to witness amazing connections and conversations at Hidden Dinner transform strangers into friends. What are your favorite ways to experience food?
