Welcome to the July newsletter

Dear

July is one of our favourite months of the year as we get to celebrate our latest graduates and welcome them to the alumni community. This year was no different, and we loved seeing so many happy faces and proud parents and carers throughout our graduation week. You can see pictures taken throughout the week on both the Alumni Facebook and University Facebook pages.

You can also read stories about some of our exceptional 2023 graduates on the University news pages.

2023 Honorary Fellows

We were delighted to cap off a brilliant Graduation week by awarding Honorary Fellowships to nine inspirational individuals, recognising their contribution to the University and wider world.

Six of the nine recipients were Leeds Trinity graduates, who have been recognised for the impact they have made in their careers, their ambassadorship of the University, and the support and inspiration they have provided to students. Read more.

Angus delivers again

Alumni from the 90s returned back to campus earlier in the month for their annual football match and reunion. Alumnus Angus Martin (Sport, Health and Physical Education, 1998) organises the annual match and we were proud to host such a fun and engaging group, several of whom who have returned as guest speakers.

Thank you to all who took part for also supporting our Inspiring Futures Programme on the day.

Join us on A-level results day

On Thursday 17 August pupils across the UK will find out their A-level results. As with last year we would love for you to join us in celebrating results day and sharing the best things about your decision to study with us.

We were overwhelmed last year with the incredible comments we received about what Leeds Trinity meant to so many of our alumni. Please save the date in your diary and check out our Alumni Facebook and Alumni Twitter accounts on the day to share your memories.

Back to the 90s

We loved catching up with alumni earlier this month at Manahatta Headingley for the reunion so well organised by Bronwen Lenik and Ivan Harling.

Alumni who started their studies between 1992 and 1995 were treated to 90s classics and an amazing atmosphere. See more.

John represents England again

Congratulations to alumnus John Goldthorp (Human Movement, Class of 1980) who is representing England Over 60s Cricket team again, this time versus Australia for the Grey Ashes.

Matches between the two teams, where John is wicket keeper, continue throughout July. Good luck John!  Find out more.

Featured alumni – Sabina Lee

Sabina is one of our most recent graduates, graduating from Criminology with Police Studies this month. Her story was featured in the Yorkshire Evening Post on Tuesday 18 July. As well as her studies, Sabina also worked as a Student Ambassador.

Sabina was able to take advantage of the industry experience of her lecturers: "The lecturers that taught me were so knowledgeable, they were able to share their real-life experiences in prisons, in the police force and working in crime reduction."

Like so many Leeds Trinity students, Sabina got a lot out of her placements: "Through the support of the Careers+Placements team, I was able to get two placements as a special constable, this would not have happened without them. The placements were very different as they both gave different experiences."

Sabina is following her dream to join the police force. We wish her the very best of luck and are very confident what a great success she will be.
