Winter Highlights at CHS

The start of 2026 has been filled with meaningful moments of connection across the CHS alumnae community, from reunions and book clubs to professional networking and pickleball matches. Whether gathering to share stories, inspire one another, or simply enjoy each other’s company, alumnae continue to embody the caring and supportive community that defines CHS.

We were delighted to reconnect with previous Alumnae Career Exchange (ACE) panellist and engineering consultant Melody Tsai ’14, featured on the blog as she reflects on her role in the engineering field.

Looking ahead, we invite you to join us for the 128th School Birthday celebrations, alumnae trips to Central Canada and New York. Also, save the date for the upcoming CHS Community Weekend on June 5-7, where there will be dedicated programming for CHS alumnae.

Warm regards,

CHS Alumnae Relations

Alumnae News

Candid Conversations and Career Journeys at ACE 2026

Hosted by the CHS Alumnae Association, this year’s Alumnae Career Exchange (ACE) drew a full house and featured enterprising alumnae working across diverse industries, including event management, public relations, landscape architecture, catering, fundraising, film, and psychedelics. Panellists shared candid stories of winding post-secondary paths and formative internships, alongside the realities of balancing motherhood, emerging technologies like AI, and the demands of time management. The highlight of the event was a dynamic panel of alumnae speakers who offered thoughtful insights on collaboration, the lifelong nature of networking, and the importance of finding comfort in the uncomfortable.

Class of 2015 Celebrates 10-Year Milestone

The Class of 2015 celebrated their 10-year reunion at CHS on Friday, January 30. In addition to reminiscing and catching up with one another, alumnae enjoyed an impromptu tour of campus. They revisited their favourite spaces—from classrooms and common areas to performance and athletic spaces—and discovered additions and updates that showed how the school has evolved to meet the needs of today’s students. To cap off the evening, the Class of 2015 raised their voices to sing the Crofton House School song.

Alumnae and Students: Unleashing Imagination

Writer-in-Residence is a CHS tradition that connects students with visiting authors from near and far, inspiring their own writers brains in the process! This year, students in Grades 4 to 7 have had the opportunity to work with alum mum and non-fiction author Rachel Poliquin ’93. Read the blog post and dive into the students’ experiences creating their own strangest creatures, wacky skeletons and beastly puzzles—and learning about the power of unlikely narrators!

“Truth is, the world is filled with completely ordinary and amazing things… Creativity and imagination are the most powerful tools we have to learn about the real world.” - Rachel Poliquin ’93

Alumnae and Students: Bridging Generations

In December, Junior School students created personalized holiday cards for more than 400 alumnae—a heartwarming initiative that connects our youngest students with some of our eldest living alumnae and bridges generations in a meaningful way.

Condolences

Alumnae across generations have been sharing heartfelt memories following the passing of Moira Schulte, a much-loved teacher whose passion, kindness, and joy for learning left a lasting mark on Crofton House School.

A leader in science education, Moira was the first female physics teacher in British Columbia and played a key role in expanding advanced physics at Crofton House. She also inspired creativity through photography, introducing generations of students to the magic of the darkroom.

Whether teaching physics, chemistry, photography, or serving as a homeroom teacher, Moira brought energy and encouragement to her classrooms. Her patience and enthusiasm made learning feel accessible and engaging. Many alumnae have also shared how well her teaching prepared them for university—often to their own surprise. Above all, Moira is remembered as a teacher who truly cared for her students, and it’s clear from the memories shared that she will be fondly remembered.
