Nutrition videos onlineEarlier this year we launched a series of nutrition videos on counting carbohydrates and managing insulin and blood glucose levels with everyday food choices. These holidays are a great time to watch the videos and share with your family and friends. Our wonderful T1D communityLast month we celebrated World Diabetes Day and what a monumental day it was. We are so proud of our T1D community who helped raise awareness and funds for T1D in different schools all across WA. Shout out to TheoWe are proud to have so many very talented children and youth in our T1D community. Theo Grant is no exemption, this year the avid cyclist completed an everesting event - that's 335kms and 9016m of elevation. Oral insulin studyOur researchers would like to find out whether oral insulin is useful in type 1 diabetes management and is safe for use in individuals with T1D. We are looking for participants aged 16 – 25 years, who have been living with T1D for more than 1 year, to be involved in the 12-week study. Sports coaches needed!We need your help to create safer environments for children with T1D to participate in sports. Our researchers have developed educational resources designed to help coaches empower kids with T1D to feel more confident taking part in community sport. The team are seeking your feedback. Congrats Dr Sabrina BinkowskiCongratulations to Dr Sabrina Binkowski on being awarded the ANZSPED research grant award of $20,000. It will go towards her research project exploring glycaemic outcomes across communities from different cultural backgrounds with the aim to develop different cultural resources. Access for all newly diagnosedCongratulations to our Models of Care research team on their $600,000 WACRF State Government grant to support research that aims to remove barriers and provide access to the most effective technologies for all children newly diagnosed with T1D. This project will start in 2024!
