A researcher-led initiative film screening - ‘Our Stories: a short film about professional development within academia and beyond’
Wednesday 19 June 2024 (2 pm - 4 pm)
Streatham Campus, Laver Building, Lecture Theatre 6 (LT6)
Join a one-off film screening of a short film documenting career development stories from individuals working in early-career roles to senior leadership at the University of Exeter, and those who have applied their knowledge and skills training to professions outside of academia. This short film hopes to demystify the idea that academia is a strictly linear profession (ie, PhD sets the road to becoming a professor) and instead document how individuals from diverse backgrounds have achieved professional development within and outside of academia. The film screening will be followed by a question and answer with the filmmakers and a networking event to explore common challenges and enablers to progression at every career milestone, and a chance to catch-up with peers. Snacks and light refreshment provided.
This activity is a Researcher-led Initiative that has been funded by the University of Exeter Researcher Development and Research Culture team.
