As Australia approaches a vote on the Voice to Parliament it is timely to screen
The Skin of Others, a story of modern Australia – its violent past and its future potential – told through the extraordinary life of Aboriginal World War One soldier Douglas Grant (c.1885-1951). Grant’s story, highs and lows, gives us a fresh look at Australian history and the need for a fresh vision for a more reconciled future for all of us, no matter what skin. We will also be hosting a Q&A with the film's Director.

Animations are really just cartoons, aren’t they? Wrong. They are a totally fresh film medium that reaches kids and adults alike. Come and meet local animators, see some of their own work and watch animations from around the world at four sessions themed Brave, Obscure, Fresh and Acclaimed (get it? BOFA!), each with a Q&A at the conclusion.

We all have our favourite films from “back in the day”. The BOFA team has assembled 8 great classic films that are still as fresh as the day they were released. Love fashion? Don’t miss The Devil Wears Prada. Love action?… well James Bond in Goldfinger is as sassy as ever. Love off-beat humour? Monty Python the Meaning of Life and the Big Lebowski are as fresh as ever! Love romance? Some Like it Hot has a fresh twist on that eternal subject. Love Aussie humour? Finish the festival with The Adventures of Barry McKenzie… and some Ducane beer at our closing night party.
