Building on research conducted by BSL in collaboration with the Disability and Health Unit at the University of Melbourne, our policy report offers a blueprint of 10 strategies to guide government reforms to multiple systems that shape employment opportunities. Moreover the financial impacts are likely to be long term. POLICY: REVIEWING AND STRENGTHENING VICTORIA’S DISABILITY ACTIn responding to the Review of Victoria’s Disability Act, we identified areas where the Act could be strengthened to support the inclusion of all people with disability, and ensure they can participate in their communities. Read the BSL response to the Review of Victoria’s Disability Act (PDF, 233 KB) Dr Margaret Kabare joined the Work and Economic Security team of the Research and Policy Centre as a Senior Research Officer in 2021. Margaret has taught community development at Murdoch University, and worked previously was at Save the Children Australia. She has a PhD in sociology and a Masters of Social Development and Management. Her current research examines how narratives about people and places shape women’s economic security and how the narratives might be challenged and reframed.
