What's on in Central Otago - April

Days are getting chillier, but the resplendence of Autumnal light makes thoughts of dusting off the woolly blankets much easier to anticipate.
Deciduous trees resign to cooler temperatures and we are treated to a magnificent array of colours as the sun rises and sets in Central Otago. This season is the perfect time to get out and take some shots of these stunning scenes. For inspiration take a trip to the Maniototo and check out the Wedderburn Woolshed Photography Exhibition. This month's heading image taken by photographer Dave Feathers captures the light just before it fades over the Clyde bridge. Dave is one of 10 Central Otago photographer's exhibiting at Wedderburn this year.
As the temperature drops we are drawn indoors - this can be a welcome opportunity to get more creative and a great chance for talented artists to start thinking about entering the 2017 Arts Gold awards. Arts Gold is an enterprise which recognises excellence in art both nationally and within the Central Otago region. If you would like to enquire about this exciting event contact the Central Stories Museum and Art Gallery in Alexandra.
Central Otago artist Liz Kempthorne will be holding an Open Studio Day at her gallery in Clyde on Saturday the 15th April, and the Clyde Wine and Food Harvest Festival returns for another year on Sunday the 16th - go along to sample the best of the region's wine, food, markets, live music and art.
Don't forget to call into Hullabaloo to check out Gail de Jong's solo show ' The Magpies Said' - an interesting collection of monoprints and paintings on metal inspired by the famous New Zealand poem by Denis Glover.
The Wanaka Festival of Colour is well under way with a brilliant repertoire of local, national and international arts. For 10 days we are treated to world class music, dance, theatre, comedy and visual arts. There is still time to catch a number of these fantastic acts. Check out our list below to see 'What's on' in Central Otago this month.
