No images? Click here ![]() Principal's welcomeThis term, and year, has been a good one. I’m delighted that the number of people participating in Guild activities has increased by comparison with last year and the pandemic-years. Whilst the charity will always face new challenges; it’s great that we now have a feeling of normality. I am always delighted to see faces, old and new, happily engaged in their chosen Guild activity. The half-term holiday is now here and the weather forecast for the bank holiday weekend is a good one; fingers crossed that this is the beginning of a fab summer. I hope that with an improvement in the weather more people will opt to walk or cycle to the Guild, we have a cycle rack near the rear entrance. I understand that some people have to drive to the Guild and we have three dedicated disabled parking bays for those who need them. If you are unable to find a space in the Guild’s carpark, we recommend that you use a local public one; Spring Street is the nearest. Some local residents have been complaining about inconsiderate on-street parking, whilst I’m sure that this isn’t caused by Guild participants, please park considerately wherever that may be. We have a wonderful programme arranged for September onwards. The new prospectus will have an ‘at a glance’ guide and full details of what’s on will be on the website; please remember places are always allocated on a first-to-book basis. I look forward to seeing you after a relaxing break. With best wishes, Paula ![]() All autumn term activities (courses, groups, clubs and societies) will be visible on our website and available to book from Tuesday 6th June. Huge Congrats to Beks and Jude on their sporting achievements "What a day @londonmarathon 😍 I enjoyed it even more than the first time and so happy I knocked my PB from 4.45 to 4.07 🥳 proudly running for my club @veganrunnersuk. "With just over a weeks notice to booking onto my first triathlon @wilmslow_triathlon it brought home that you don’t need to do crazy hours of training, compete for the best times, travel miles, have all the perfect gear, you just need to change your mindset, turn up, go out & enjoy the experience … it really was empowering. The friendly chatter and support along the way from competitors, marshals and community was amazing. Here’s to my next one" Jude

![]() International Evening 29th June Last December, we held our first international evening, which was designed to bring all learners from all the language classes the Guild for Lifelong Learning offers to celebrate their learning, but also to use their acquired language skills in a social setting. Around 70 students joined the event, which filled the Community Café with lots of conversations in a range of languages, with laughter and enjoyment and even German Christmas carols, all sweetened by food and drink from Germany, France, Italy and Spain. Following the success of this first event, we will be holding a second international evening on Thursday 29th June from 7.30pm in the main hall at the Guild. Apart from hopefully welcoming again many existing language learners, we are also looking forward to being joined by many individuals who have studied German, French, Italian and/or Spanish at some point and who would love to restart their language learning journey with the Guild or who would like to start afresh with one of our beginner classes. Apart from celebrating language learning through conversations in many languages in a friendly setting, we will also be having a foreign language book fair. Language teachers will be present to answer any questions. Please feel free to BYO drinks, soft drinks can be purchased from our community café and there will be food :) Cheshire Business Directory listing

Father’s Day is coming! This year please help us provide celebratory packs for children in poorer households to give to their dads. Hygiene poverty takes away so much choice but together we can make sure this isn’t added to the list. We always need more male toiletries and receive fewer boy/ man specific donations. Can you help? Could you pop a Lynx spray, a hair gel, an anti dandruff shampoo, or maybe a Sire or Dove male deodorant into your shopping trolley for us this week? #fathersdsy #everybottleeverytubecounts #keepitlocal #hygienepoverty #toiletrybank #makeadifference
