What's On in the Arts in Central Otago - February.

Charity Arts Event at Carrick. One of the many powerful roles of the arts in a community is its ability to give back - to connect people, create shared experiences, and support causes that matter. This spirit of generosity is at the heart of an upcoming Charity Arts Evening being hosted by Carrick in Bannockburn.
Carrick will welcome celebrated Wanaka artist Robin Brisker for a relaxed evening of art, wine and conversation in a beautiful vineyard setting. Guests will have the opportunity to view and purchase Robin’s work while enjoying Carrick wines and shared nibbles. Robin’s life story is as rich and layered as his artwork. Born in Chicago and raised across the United States, he has lived in more than 10 countries and worked in a wide range of roles, from gallery owner to street performer. His work is held in international collections, and since settling in Wānaka in 2000 he has become a familiar and respected figure in the arts
community, with works displayed in many local venues. In the spirit of giving back, 50% of all artwork sales on the night will be donated to a local charity chosen by the purchaser, including St John Ambulance, the local Fire Brigade, Food for Love, Rescue Dogs and Search and Rescue. The Charity Arts Evening will be held on Saturday 28 February at Carrick Wines in Bannockburn, from 4.30pm to
6.30pm. It promises to be a warm and friendly occasion, bringing together art, hospitality and community generosity in one of Central Otago’s most beautiful settings. Ophir Peace Memorial Hall. An Absolute Gem! 2026 marks the 100th anniversary of the Ophir Peace Memorial Hall – a true treasure of Central Otago. Nestled in the heart of this historic town, the Hall
is a wonderful venue for boutique concerts, offering a beautifully laid-back atmosphere to enjoy some truly great performances. There's something special about being immersed in heritage while taking in incredible live music, and this centenary year promises to deliver exactly that. Throughout the year there will be a raft of events to celebrate, so make sure you check back here often or visit the Ophir Peace Memorial Hall Facebook page HERE. Coming up in February are Seel and Sanders, followed by James Gray, and in early March Jackie Bristow – with plenty more awesome events still to be confirmed.
