Kia ora Work has kicked back into gear this week, with the weather getting steadily better (although not warmer!). Rock breaking has been completed in the first site with just a little tidying-up to do on Sunday night. The team will also pour the new drainage channel - providing the weather stays dry. Road closure signageThere are two types of signage we put in place to let you know about the night closures. This includes both advisory and temporary signage. Advisory signage stays in place from before the beginning of the work till the end, while the temporary signage is set up and removed for when closures are deployed. Setting up the traffic management for an overnight closure takes about an hour of preparation before the standard installation process is complete on both sides of Dyers Pass Road hill. The key thing to know is that Dyers Pass Road will remain open until 7.30pm, even if some of the orange and black temporary signs are out before then. If you see these signs out before 7.30pm it means the Traffic Management Team are in the process of setting out the signage for the night closure, which needs to happen before 7.30pm. Find out more about the signage being used for the Dyers Pass Road Safety Improvements in our frequently asked questions. Traffic signalsThe traffic team have been busy testing and commissioning the temporary traffic signals on the city side of Dyers Pass Road, making sure everything works as it should. The signals are now operational. They’re far more responsive than regular temporary lights and allow for remote monitoring so we can keep an eye on traffic flows. We'll be monitoring these closely in case of any issues. If you notice anything of concern, please let us know by phoning 03 941 8999. Work in Westenra TerraceA crew from the Council's Three Waters Team will be working on Westenra Terrace next week, which will include a road closure from 7am on Monday until 4pm on Tuesday. This should not directly affect the traffic flow on Dyers Pass Road. If you have any questions about this work, you can call Nova Traffic Management on 0800 299 288.
