Indy Reads Summer Book ClubLooking for a relaxing read this Summer? The Grandest Bookshop in the World is an award-winning novel by Australian author Amelia Mellor, and has been chosen as part of the #indyreadsNSW Summer Book Club. This beautiful story is set in a magical 19th-century bookstore in Melbourne where siblings Pearl and Vally Cole are swept into a game of impossibly high stakes to save the shop. It is perfect for readers of all ages. You can download the Indyreads App and use your library card to read it or you can borrow a copy from the library. Did you know?Local newspapers News of the Area (NOTA) and Woopi News are being digitised and are available on Trove via our website? A year on from the final print edition of the Coffs Coast Advocate, and almost two years into a pandemic that has kept the community at home, many of us are now reading news on digital platforms. While many online news sources are national or international publications, Coffs Harbour is lucky to have a variety of current and historical local news sources available digitally. News of the Area (NOTA) and Woopi News cover a wide range of current community stories, from performing arts events and local government news to volunteering opportunities. News of the Area (NOTA) is available here. And you can search ‘Woopi News’ here. Information on accessing past issues of many local newspapers can be found here. Our Stories: Coffs Coast Heritage Illuminating 20 Years at Coffs Harbour Regional GalleryThe Coffs Coast Heritage blog writes this month about the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery celebrating 20 years; reflecting on humble beginnings in a tiny office space to its coming of age in a new home, Yarrila Arts & Museum (YAM), which opens late 2022. Yarrila is the local Gumbaynggirr word for illuminate, brighten or illustrate. The rest of this great story can be found on this post: Illuminating 20 years at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery. You can also revisit 20 years of exhibitions and see the collection of Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery, on Coffs Collections.
