Annual Ministry Recertification

As part of our ministry best practices, we require ALL volunteers and staff to recommit to our Statement of Beliefs and Code of Conduct every year. This ensures we are all aligned theologically and are reminded of the obligations and requirements that come with speaking to our guests and representing the ministry.

The Annual Recertification Process will be Wednesday, February 15th.

As part of the login process on that day, the Echo System will require you to certify your agreement with both documents.  This process will take just a few minutes and MUST be completed prior to taking conversations.  Once you have certified your agreement with both statements, the system will require you to log back in.

Both of these statements can be reviewed in advance on the Volunteer Training Portal:

Conversation Tips - Turning Conversations Related to Prayer

Many of our visitors come seeking prayer.  There is a tendency to offer a token prayer and move on, but we want to encourage you to have a broadened perspective.  These conversations offer a great opportunity to share a Gospel Message of Hope.  Many asking for prayer have no true connection to our Savior or biblical foundation.

Instead of simply praying for the seeker, take some time to creatively probe to understand where they are spiritually.  We can do this through "Probing Questions"  which allow you to assess the spiritual position of the seeker.  The following are suggestions you might consider using as you approach conversations relating to Prayer.

Further, we want to encourage you to pray "with" the seeker and not just for them.  Look for opportunities to "teach a man to pray...".  In the course of the dialogue, we suggest you ask the seeker to pray first, then follow with a closing prayer by the volunteer.

I need Prayer for my job interview:  I am more than happy to pray "with" you regarding your upcoming interview.  Please know that Jesus loves you and He has a plan and purpose for your life.  Before we pray, can you share how Jesus Christ is part of your life?...

I need Prayer for this financial pressure I feel:  I am more than happy to pray "with" you in this.  We all face pressures in life.  Jesus wants to walk with us if we will lean into Him in these times.  The Bible tells us to cast our burdens on the Lord and HE will sustain us.  Can you share how Jesus is part of your life?....

I need Prayer to help me overcome struggles in my life:  I am very sorry for the stresses you are feeling and am happy to pray "with" you.  I too have walked through difficult times, but Jesus was always with me.  Can you talk to me about how Jesus Christ has transformed your life?

We hope this helps you to probe deeper into these conversations looking for ways to turn the conversation to a Message of Hope.

New Video Training Resources – Islamic Seekers

We have all faced difficult conversations with those from differing religious backgrounds and beliefs.  To help train and equip you to have fruitful conversations with Islamic seekers, we have partnered with Dr. Dean Sieberhagen, Director of the Master's in Islamic Studies at SWBTS. He has put together two videos for you.

You will find these videos in the “Other Religions and Faith System” section of the Volunteer Training Portal.

Islam (Video) – Understanding and Responding (Sieberhagen) – Part 1 of 2

Islam (Video) – Understanding and Responding (Sieberhagen) – Part 2 of 2

Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the videos and other resources available on the Volunteer Training Portal.
