Action Required: MFA Will Be Mandatory Starting January 1, 2027To better protect your account and the sensitive information in SLIP+, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required for all SLIP+ users beginning January 1, 2027. MFA adds a second step of security when you log in. After you enter your password, you'll confirm it's really you with a code sent by text message (SMS), email, or one generated by an authenticator app. So even if someone gets your password, they still can't get into your account without that crucial second step. MFA is currently available in SLIP+, and we encourage you to set it up before the deadline. Why Set It Up Now?
To enable MFA in SLIP+, simply log in and follow the MFA prompts. If you have questions or need help, contact us at agent.services@fslso.com or call 800.562.4496, option 1.
Understanding Premium Deficiency NoticesPremium Deficiency Notices help ensure surplus lines premium reporting is accurate, complete, and aligned with filing records. If a notice is received, insurers should promptly review the identified policy information, compare it against internal records, and provide any needed corrections or supporting details. Deficiencies that remain unresolved after the reporting deadline may be referred to the appropriate state entity. Timely responses help prevent additional follow-up and support continued compliance.
SLIP+ Insurer Reporting & Compliance Connect WebinarThe SLIP+ Insurer Reporting & Compliance Connect webinar, held on 09/17/2026, provided an overview of insurer reporting expectations, compliance reminders, and key updates to help support accurate and timely premium reporting. Providing Accurate Broker InformationAccurate reporting entity information is essential to the premium reconciliation process in SLIP+. When submitting policy transactions, insurers should ensure the Reporting Entity reflects the surplus lines agent or broker responsible for the policy.
Keep the Reporting Entity CurrentThe Reporting Entity should be reviewed not only when a policy is initially reported, but also at renewal. If a Broker of Record (BOR) change has occurred, insurers should update the Reporting Entity to reflect the broker that has assumed responsibility for the business. Continuing to report a previous broker can prevent transactions from matching correctly and result in unnecessary reconciliation follow-up.
IPC Is Not a Substitute for an Unknown BrokerIndependently Procured Coverage (IPC) should only be used when the policy is truly independently procured, meaning the insured obtained coverage directly from the insurer without the assistance of a surplus lines agent or broker. IPC should not be selected simply because the insurer is unable to identify the correct Reporting Entity. When IPC is reported, Premium Reconciliation may request policy documentation to verify how the coverage was procured, identify the corresponding premium filing, and ensure the transaction is associated with the appropriate home state.
Can't Identify the Reporting Entity? The Reporting Entity Search is available in SLIP+ for Florida, SLIP+ for States, and Georgia SLIP to help insurers identify the appropriate broker. Navigate to: FILINGS → Reporting Entity Search Search using the Policy Number and/or Insured Name. For SLIP+ for States, users may also select the State in the search criteria. The system will return potential matching filings where a surplus lines broker reported the policy using your company as the insurer. If your search returns the message, “This policy exists but has been filed with a different insurer,” this means a potential matching policy was found using the policy number and insured information, but the agent reported the policy under a different insurer. Please contact SLIP+ staff for further assistance.
