Future Driven! Building a Stronger Tomorrow Together
At the start of Semester 2, Coolbinia Primary School staff participated in two days of professional learning focused on strengthening our leadership, teamwork and school culture as we look towards the development of our 2027- 2029 Business Plan.
A key component of this learning involved exploring the Human Synergistics Circumplex, an internationally recognised framework that helps individuals and teams understand the thinking and behavioural styles that lead to high performance and positive relationships. The framework identifies behaviours that support collaboration, growth, innovation and achievement, as well as behaviours that can hinder effective teamwork and organisational success.
Through this process, staff reflected on how we can continue to build a culture that encourages:
- High expectations and continuous improvement
- Effective collaboration and teamwork
- Positive relationships and mutual respect
- Adaptability, innovation and lifelong learning
- A strong sense of belonging and connection
This learning aligns closely with our strategic direction as a high-performing academic school, where every student is challenged to achieve their personal best while also experiencing a strong sense of belonging and connection.
By investing in the growth and development of our staff, we are strengthening our collective ability to create the conditions in which students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally. This professional learning has provided valuable insights that will inform our future planning and help shape the next phase of Coolbinia Primary School's journey.
We are excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to working in partnership with our community to build a future-focused school where every child can succeed.
SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS
We have two positions up for election at the beginning of Term 4. We will be sending out more information about these positions during the term.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the Board, both Louise Markovic (Board Chair) and Simon Reid would be happy to answer any questions you may have about the Board and the role of Board members.
Interested people are also invited to attend our
Board meeting on Tuesday 8 September at 6.00 pm.
The 2026 Principal’s Writing Challenge is here!
Let your imagination wander…
We’re thrilled to announce the return of the Principal’s Writing Challenge for 2026! This exciting competition is open to all students from Pre-primary to Year 6, and it’s your chance to shine as a storyteller.
What’s the Challenge?
Create an original piece of writing: a story, narrative, or other imaginative piece of up to 2,000 words. Let your creativity run wild and take us on a journey only you can imagine!
Why Enter?
- Earn points for your House.
- Receive a certificate if your writing is awarded a Distinction.
- Showcase your imagination, innovation, and creativity.
- Be part of a school-wide celebration of storytelling!

Congratulations, Anthony!
We are thrilled to congratulate Anthony Lu on an outstanding achievement! Anthony has been selected to represent Western Australia at the Yonex U13/U17 Australian National Team Championships, to be held in Launceston, Tasmania, from 26 September to 2 October 2026.
This selection is a testament to Anthony's exceptional talent, dedication, perseverance, and hard work both on and off the badminton court. Earning the opportunity to compete at a national level is a remarkable accomplishment and reflects the countless hours of training and commitment he has invested in the sport.
As Anthony embarks on this exciting journey to compete against Australia's best young players, we wish him every success. We know he will represent Western Australia with pride, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship.
We also encourage our club and community to get behind Anthony as he prepares for this prestigious event. Your encouragement and support will help make this incredible opportunity even more memorable.
Congratulations once again, Anthony we are incredibly proud of you and can't wait to follow your journey at the National Team Championships. Best of luck in Tasmania!
House Athletics Carnival
Parent Volunteers Needed
Our House Athletics Carnival is fast approaching, and we would greatly appreciate the support of our wonderful parent community.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with:
- Transporting equipment from Coolbinia Primary School to Yokine Reserve (closest to Alexander Drive) on Thursday, 6 August, packing up and returning the equipment from Yokine Reserve back to school at the conclusion of the carnival on Friday, 7 August.
- Setting up the equipment on Carnival Morning Friday, 7 August. We’ll begin setup from 6am but you can arrive when suitable for you.
If you are available to help with either of these tasks, please contact Mr. Porcaro on brandon.porcaro2@education.wa.edu.au. Your support plays an important role in making the day run smoothly and is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Term 3, COSCA families!
Welcome back to all our COSCA families! We hope you had a wonderful break and are ready for an exciting term ahead.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Rocketeers holiday program. We had so much fun travelling around the world, learning new languages, trying delicious foods, and following the FIFA World Cup. We hope to see you all again at our Spring Session!
This term, we're excited to introduce new resources, continue our popular Cooking Club, welcome back Art Club in Week 3, and launch new experiences inspired by our children's ideas and feedback.
We can't wait to see what Term 3 brings and look forward to seeing you throughout the term as part of our wonderful COSCA family.

Upcoming events and promotions
🎾 Anyone for Tennis?
PlayTennis is offering an 8-week Before School Hot Shots Tennis Program at Coolbinia Primary School during Term 3, 2026.
Designed for children aged 5–12 years (Years 1- 6), this fun program helps develop tennis skills, hand-eye coordination and confidence through games and activities. All equipment is provided (children are welcome to bring their own racquet).
Friday: 7:45 am - 8:30 am Starts: Friday, 31 July 2026 (8 consecutive weeks) Cost: $140 per child
New players can join at any time during the term and will only pay for the remaining weeks.
