Exciting times for the RRF Project!

In preparation for the upcoming implementation of the new RRF, User Acceptance Testing has commenced and will run up to December.

Once this is completed, we will be providing our external user experience group, with early access to the system, for testing and feedback.

We will be providing full training on the new RRF in time for Go Live.  Please use the link below to register your interest and we will be in touch with further information closer to the time.

Register your interest in attending training

Can’t make the training?  Don’t worry, there will be recordings of all the training available on our website, post Go Live, as well as existing support from the MBIE Service Centre and the RSM Team.

3.5 GHz spectrum allocation method announced

On 20 October 2022, the Government announced it was intending to provide long-term access to the 3.5 GHz spectrum band through a direct allocation process to Mobile Network Operators (2degrees, Spark, Vodafone) and Dense Air.

Subject to contract negotiations, the direct allocation process will see the market value of this spectrum be delivered through:

  • Faster availability of 5G to small towns across New Zealand.
  • Further investment in rural connectivity.

Short-term rights (which were set to expire on 31 October 2022) will be extended from 1 November 2022 until 30 June 2023 while the details of the long-term access are confirmed. This allows the continued roll-out of 5G and provides continuity for regional services as contracts for longer term rights are finalised.

RSM staff step up to the task at Rugby World Cup Aotearoa 2021

The International Women’s Rugby World Cup is currently underway. Behind the scenes, RSM team are working alongside organisers and broadcasters to ensure the event is a success.

The games are taking place at Auckland and Whangarei venues. Investigators are on site to help identify and resolve any potential radio spectrum issues that may arise.

So far, our Investigators have been busy dealing with interference on match days between the many different users of radio communication devices. This has been greatly assisted by the co-operation of all parties to resolve interference issues.
