Coronavirus (COVID-19) | Update for Residents and Families

Dear Resident and Family Members,

COVID-19 Update for Residents and Families at Calvary Gympie Views

I am writing to inform you that unfortunately two (2) additional residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at Calvary Gympie Views in the latest round of testing, both who reside in our Enright Wing.  Our COVID positive residents are currently isolating and receiving care in their rooms, and we are keeping their families informed.

Consistent with Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, Enright Wing will re-open to visitors from today 14 April 2022.

As an additional precaution to keeping residents, families and staff safe during this outbreak, we ask that you book your visit with your loved one by calling the home. This is particularly important for those who will be visiting residents in our Enright Wing. Please book now for visits over the Easter break – contact details can be found below.

Information for visitors during an outbreak

Calvary’s Position Statement on Visiting in Aged Care, allows visits for residents in all circumstances, including when a home is experiencing an outbreak and is in lockdown. There are, however, specific requirements to help keep our residents, their visitors and our staff as safe as possible.

• All wings, including Enright Wing are open to visits from one fully vaccinated visitor per resident, per day.
• All visitor bookings must be made prior to visiting by calling 07 54822634 between 8.30am – 5.00pm.
• Visiting hours are between 11.00am - 1.30pm and 3.00pm - 4.30pm daily. This is to ensure all screening processes can be effectively completed prior to entry. Last visitor entry to the home is at 4.30pm, however visitors may stay later than this time.
• Please book now if you are planning to visit your loved one over the Easter break.
• All visitors will be supplied with the appropriate PPE (including face masks and shields as appropriate) to wear whilst visiting. Staff will assist you as required.
• Visitors will be required to have a rapid antigen test (RAT test) before entering the home. This takes time, and we ask for your patience as we manage this important screening process.
• Visitation exceptions may be made for residents receiving end of life care, residents who may be experiencing distress, or where a special care and support role is provided. Please speak with the home manager to discuss arrangements.

Our next round of testing is on Saturday 16 April 2022. We will continue to liaise closely with Public Health Unit officials, who will make the decision about whether and when it is safe to remove the current visitation restrictions. We will keep you updated as information becomes available, and anticipate our next communication to you will be on Tuesday 19 April.

Please contact the home manager if you would like to book a video call with your loved one. Clearly labelled care packages may be left with the home, and we will ensure your loved one receives them.

Thank you for your continued understanding and patience at this time.

Sincerely,

Cassandra Schwartz
