Campus Card and U-Pass are Combined Card
The
campus card website has all the information you need to set up your campus card. The U-Pass is a discount transit pass for eligible Carleton students, offering unlimited travel on OC Transpo and STO buses and trains for those enrolled in 1.5 credits or more in the fall and winter terms. Your Campus Card and U-Pass are a combined card. If you previously added the transit application to your Campus Card, or received your card after July 1, 2024, your fall U-Pass will be activated automatically when you use it on transit. If you received your Campus Card prior to July 1, 2024 and have not yet added the transit application, you will need to do so at the Campus Card Office. Eligible students may request a U-Pass opt-out by Sept. 14, 2025.

Reuse and Recycling Hub

The Reuse and Recycling Hub provides a convenient, central space for the Carleton community to responsibly dispose of and divert various common items from the landfill.

The Hub currently accepts the following items:

  • Printer cartridges: All desktop printer cartridges can be dropped off for recycling, reducing plastic waste and promoting materials recovery.
  • Textbooks: Gently used textbooks published within the last 15 years are accepted for potential reuse or redistribution.
  • Batteries: A wide range of household batteries can be deposited. For a full list of accepted types see the Sustainability Carleton website.
  • Markers and pens: All spent markers, pens, and similar writing instruments can be recycled—an easy way to reduce plastic and ink waste.
  • Small electronic waste (e-waste): A variety of small electronic items are accepted for safe disposal and recycling. For a full list of accepted personal e-waste see the Sustainability Carleton website.

Stop by the Hub on the first floor of Nideyinàn and do your part to support Carleton’s sustainability goals.

Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is pleased to announce that the annual doctoral scholarship competition will officially launch on Monday, Sept. 9. This competition aims to highlight excellence in the humanities and social sciences and is intended for students who are in their first or second year of their doctoral studies at the time of application. The deadline to apply is Nov. 17 at 4 p.m. ET.

It is important to note that candidates in their final year of a master's program are no longer eligible for the 2026 scholarship competition.

For information regarding our scholarship competition, we invite you to visit our website.

2025 Trudeau Foundation Scholar Philippe Boucher

Carleton University Legal Studies doctoral student Philippe Boucher has been named a 2025 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar.

Boucher won one of 16 spots out of more than 680 candidates who applied for the sought-after scholarship. The program honours exceptional doctoral candidates in the social sciences and humanities whose research advances one of four key themes: human rights and dignity, responsible citizenship, Canada’s role on the global stage, and the relationship between people and their natural environment. The scholarship will provide funding for three years but is unique as it also provides a leadership training program.

“It is an honour to receive the Trudeau Foundation Scholarship,” says Boucher. “I received the call while I was in the community I am working with—which is the Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach in northern Québec—just before going to court to give support to community members. I was really honoured because it is such a big scholarship and can get my research to the next level.”
