The Tour Championship event was held on Sunday 1 May in ideal conditions at Clearwater Golf Club. This was a special day as it marked the return of the event for the first time in three years following the recently Covid affected seasons.

As always is the case with this event, it was a rare occasion when we can get together so many valued people from the various roles within the Canterbury Golf Community from volunteers, sponsors, Friends of Canterbury Golf members, senior players, and young players all rubbing shoulders together.

The full results for the day as well as the final Order of Merit winners can be viewed here http://www.canterburygolf.co.nz/assets/Pdfs/Results.pdf

Kaituna Golf Club held a unique golf tournament on Friday 1 April using "night flyer" glowing golf balls.

With daylight saving ending, and darkness descending early, nine holes were played from 5pm followed by supper. By then it was dark enough to have a par-3 men’s and women’s “champagne” shoot-out using “Night Flyer” golf balls.  The flag and edge of the greens were identified by special glow sticks, and the tee box lit up with a car’s lights. The balls are lit by striking them firmly by hand on the clubface. They then remain glowing for ten minutes. The club is now contemplating a nine-hole mid-winter “Night Flyer” evening tournament, and, with the popularity of the twilight games, a once-a-month 3pm nine-hole round, teeing off at 3pm.
