Mailbox Theft
Last weekend, someone broke into our mailbox and stole all of our mail. We did report it to the police. If you sent a check to the church, please check with the office or Edie DeBoard, the financial secretary, to confirm that we received it. If you did send a check that we did not receive, you should contact your bank immediately.

St. Matthew Beautification
YARD WORK DAY Join us on Saturday, June 4th from 8-10am to do some yard work around the church. Bring your favorite gloves, hoe, trowel, shovel, pruners, and/or rake. Weather permitting. Contact Hi Baird or Rick Jungk with questions.
GARDENER NEEDED As some of you may have noticed, the garden to the right of the parking lot entrance isn't as beautiful as usual. Rose Pankratz has been planting/weeding/pruning this garden for the last several years, but due to her recent health issues she's unable to continue this year. If you'd be interested in taking care of this, please let Rose, Hi Baird, or Rick Jungk know.

New Women's Ministry
We have heard feedback through the recent focus groups that our members would appreciate more opportunities to connect with and meet members outside of service. We invite all the women of St. Matthew to join a new women's ministry, providing the opportunity for a regular connection time to deepen relationships, foster connections, and inspire meaningful conversations.
This summer we will start with a once a month evening gathering for two hours, hosted by Joyce Miller, Mary Henderson, and Dorothy Peterson. In the Fall, we will look to potentially host twice a month - once in the daytime and once in the evening. Prior to each session, we'll provide a theme to spark our conversations.
Mark your calendars:
June 16th at 7pm at Dorothy Peterson's home
July 14th at 7pm at Mary Henderson's home
August 11th at 7pm at Joyce Miller's home

4th of July Parade
Please consider participating in our Annual St. Matthew Shopping Cart Brigade at the Wheaton 4th of July Parade. Alex Johnson has graciously offered to help lead the shopping cart brigade. The parade begins at 10am, so plan to arrive around 8:30 or 9am. This is a wonderful way for families to get involved and help make a difference for People's Resource Center and Interfaith Food Bank.
We will need people to push shopping carts to collect food donations, someone to drive the truck, and walkers to collect money. Please contact Erin Walsh at edbreit@hotmail.com or 630.660.4651 or John Adams at jadams1958@gmail.com or 630.235.3698 if you would like to sign up. We are hoping for a great turn out!

Safe Church Background Checks
In compliance with the Safe Church Policy, we are asking all volunteers, ages 18 and over, who work with children in any capacity, to complete a Background Check Authorization Form. This includes, but is not limited to:
-
Sunday School teachers or helpers
-
VBS teachers or helpers
-
Crazies helpers
-
Nursery caregivers or helpers
-
Confirmation mentors
-
Other situations where you may be interacting with children/youth.
-
All staff
-
If you will be attending the Back Bay Mission Trip in October, they require a background check as well. This is a great time to take care of it.
Click here to download the Background Check Authorization.
Volunteers under the age of 18 do NOT need to complete a background check.
Completed forms can be scanned and emailed to the office (office@stmatthewucc.org) or dropped in a sealed envelope in the locked mailbox outside of the office. Forms will be kept confidential. The background checks will be good for 3 years.

The nursery is open! We are looking for volunteers willing to be the second adult in the nursery. We hope to have enough volunteers that you would only be scheduled once a month at the most. Please contact Kenna at kenna1@comcast.net or 630.209.5710 if you would like to be added to the list. Thank you!

Scripture Readers
If you would like to read scripture during the Sunday worship service, please contact Bruce Anderson at bruceanderson5959@gmail.com and he will add you to the list.

Greeters Needed
Since we are fully open and worshiping together in person, we would like to have greeters welcoming people again. Would you be able to commit to one (1) Sunday a month for a few months? No handshake is needed, just a smile and a "Good morning!" Let Wendy Fanning or the office know if you would like to be a greeter. Thanks.
