Season Highlights & Updates

We’re now in Week #3 of the season, and it’s been incredible to see the players’ growth and development on the court. Every week brings more excitement, with thrilling games and impressive skills on display. Keep cheering on your players and encouraging their hard work—it’s paying off!  It's evident they're learning leadership skills through understanding the fundamentals of basketball.

Spectator Reminders for Safety

The safety of our players and spectators is of the utmost importance to the league. To ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience, please keep the following in mind:

  • Spectator Seating: All spectators must remain in the stands during games. This is outlined in our Spectator Code of Conduct, which is displayed at the front entrance of the gymnasium. This ensures the safety of both players and spectators. If a spectator has a temporary issue with sitting in the stands, the league will do its best to accommodate them, as long as it does not interfere with the game or overall safety.  Please be a leader and show respect for our players safety.

  • Basketballs in the Gym: Only league players are authorized to use the basketball courts. Spectators should not bring basketballs into the gym. If a basketball is brought in, the spectator will be asked to return it to their car or leave it outside. The league cannot be responsible for lost or stolen basketballs, so it’s best to leave them at home.

Juniors Division: Neutral Zone Rule Reminder

For parents of players in the Juniors Division (games held at Sedgwick), here’s a reminder about the temporary "neutral zone":

  • This area is located in the frontcourt between the mid-court line and a yellow line about five feet from the mid-court line.

  • Defenders are not allowed to defend within this zone during regular gameplay.  However, it the offense does not dribble or pass out of the neutral zone within a referee 5-count, the offense loses possession. Also, once the offense has left the neutral zone the neutral zone no longer exists for the remainder of the offenses possession.

  • In the final minute of the game, the neutral zone is no longer in effect. Defenders may guard players as soon as they cross the mid-court line.

  • During the last minute of the game, the clock official will not start the clock until the offensive player with the ball crosses the mid-court line.

Please share this information with your players so they can better understand the rules and strategize for their games.  Click on this hyperlink to the Rules area of our website for more information.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in making this season a success. We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday for Picture Day and another exciting weekend of basketball action!

Take care,

Shawn Daly
