Thank you, We hosted our annual Staff Celebration Event at the Mercure Hotel, Willerby. The event took place on 22 November 2024 and welcomed teams from across the Trust to celebrate the fantastic work they do. The Celebration Event is the setting for the winners of the Staff Awards to be announced and presented with their trophies. Nominations opened earlier in the year to staff within the Trust to put forward their peers and colleagues for one of the 13 award categories. Blair Jacobs (formally BBC Radio Humberside) hosted the glittering, black-tie event for nearly 260 attendees, including staff and sponsors. And the NHS Choir sang the attendees into the room. The hugely successful evening was enjoyed by all and a great example of how the Trust celebrates the hard work and initiative shown by all its employees. The Staff Awards nominations are judged by a panel including members of EMT and all must fulfil the criteria of upholding the Trust’s values, show a commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, as well as showing a contribution to the delivery of outstanding care. When speaking at the event Michele Moran, Chief Executive, said, “What a fantastic evening this has been. I am immensely proud of every one of our teams and individuals nominated tonight, and of course a huge congratulations to our winners.” We’re proud to announce that we received a Highly Commended award at the annual Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards on 21 November 2024. Attending the sparkling awards ceremony in London, our fantastic Communications Team took home the high commendation for NHS Communications Initiative of the Year. Our Trust is delighted to congratulate Fran Ashton, our Head of Social Work, on winning the Gold award for Mental Health Social Worker of the Year at the Social Worker of the Year Awards 2024. This award was particularly notable as it was one of only two awards awarded to a Social Worker employed by an NHS Trust, as well as being the only one awarded where it was in partnership with a local authority. Charity Christmas Gift Appeal bringing festive joy to our patients As the holiday season approaches, Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust’s charity Health Stars is launching our annual Gift Appeal for patients receiving mental health treatment and support in hospital this Christmas. This year many patients in the local community will spend Christmas in hospital, away from the comfort of family and friends. A simple gift can make a world of difference, offering comfort, joy, and a reminder that they are not alone. Celebrate or thank a loved one this Christmas with Health StarsThis Christmas season let’s honour the people who light up our lives by dedicating a shining star or light in their name on a virtual Christmas Tree. For a donation of your choice to local NHS charity Health Stars you can choose a special way to show your gratitude to a friend or loved one or remember someone dear. Whether it's placing a top star, hanging a star on the tree, or lighting up a tree light, each gesture brings warmth and adds to a beautiful, shared display of love and remembrance. The stars, lights, and messages will remain on Visufund, creating a meaningful way to revisit memories throughout Christmas and beyond. In October 2024, the Medical Education team hosted a dynamic learning and development conference to support International Medical Graduates (IMGs), Resident doctor, SAS, and Consultants within the Trust. The event offered participants not only the chance to enhance their professional skills but also to engage with colleagues in a supportive setting. Exploring the availability of support for Adult Eating Disorders across the East Riding Humber and North Yorkshire ICB are exploring possible solutions surrounding community support and treatment for Adults experiencing disordered eating within the East Riding of Yorkshire. Friends and Family Test The Friends and Family Test (FFT) is an important feedback tool that supports the fundamental principle that people who use NHS services should have the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience. It provides a mechanism to highlight patient experience and is vital in transforming NHS services, supporting patient choice and implementing changes based on your feedback. Each month we will be sharing patient experiences from our different services, alongside a patient comment. 96.33% of respondents thought they were involved in their care and listened to when accessing services with our Children and Learning Disability Division in October. "Friendly, helpful and detailed appointment. there was some toys for my child to play with, we went through all aspects of his development and I didn't feel any pressure or rushed, and I felt listened to."
