Construction on a new undergraduate residence on University Drive near the Richmond Gates and an upper-year graduate student apartment on Platt’s Lane will begin in 2024.

From a protected island off the coast of Belize to the wilderness of Algonquin Park, biology students are expanding their skills and knowledge through field research courses this summer.  

Meet Gray Brogden

Incoming writer-in-residence Gray Brogden has been working towards this role since high school. The fourth-year student and award-winning poet is excited to be an ambassador for creative writing and helping other writers on campus.

Western’s wastewater surveillance project to track COVID-19, influenza and other viruses has been renewed and expanded until March 2024 thanks to an additional $18.7 million in funding from Ontario. 

Breaking down barriers: 'Just for Girls' STEM camp

At Discovery Western’s Just for Girls summer camp, girls from grades 4 to 8 are mentored by women students from the sciences, giving campers the opportunity to gain hands-on skills and meet like-minded peers interested in studying science, technology, engineering and math.

Traffic calming measures introduced
Facilities Management is taking steps to reduce vehicle speeds on campus roads by changing the posted limit to 30km/h (or less), adding a median on Huron Drive and installing pedestrian crossovers on Perth Drive and Huron Drive.

Call for nominations: Western Award of Excellence
Nominations for the 2023 Western Award of Excellence are open until Friday, Sept. 29. This award is the highest level of recognition for staff members who exhibit dedication, talent, innovation and initiative. Nominations for outstanding staff teams are also welcome.
